A Perfect Day To....

Create!

Hubby at work, Daughter at school, the sun is shining, and music playing in the background. Yes, the perfect day to create. So the other day I bought some new fabric.
and this morning after hesitating to cut into the fabric I decided to make a Pomona Handbag.
I went with the Fall Floral print. I have to say I love the way it turned out.
This is such a cute handbag that I thought it needed a matching mini key fob to go with it. Cute huh? So cute I tried to talk myself out of listing it on Etsy. But Etsy won...... you can find it HERE.
I hope everyone has a productive day!!!

Good Bye Hanna, Lots of Water, and One Mean Look

Very HAPPY to report that Tropical Storm Hanna was not that bad. We had lots of rain, and heavy winds but no damage. I am glad to say Hanna has left .....

First thing in the morning my husband and daughter were ready to hit the outside. My husband has said many times if it wasn't for me and our daughter he would love to be a storm chaser. I believe him too...he loves watching storm chasers on You tube. My daughter, I think, would love to be one too...she loves all the excitement. SO...out they went, walked to the river behind our house, it was about to over flow. It has been almost dry this summer and you could see the bottom but not today.

Another photo of the river

This photo is going down the path, the sides were full of water.

OKAY....this is were the ONE MEAN LOOK happens. When I saw this photo I about flipped. My husband knows all to well how I feel about water and snakes. I DON'T like snakes and I know they are out there. So he let our daughter get into the water for this photo. I just looked at him and said "You know there could be snakes in that water" He smiled and said "Yes honey, but I walked through it before I let her get in it!" Whatever!!

Anyway the sun is out now and the skies are blue with white clouds...just the way I like it.
(**My thoughts and prayers are with the ones in Hurricane Ike's path....he sounds mean**)

Quite before the storm

Well, it's been so nice and warm the last couple of days....hard to believe Hanna the Tropical Storm will be knocking on my door soon, as in early Saturday morning. Weathermen say we could start feeling the wind picking up about Friday after lunch. It's suppose to hit near the bottom of our coast and move on up. I don't live on the coast but live about 1 1/2 hrs away and the edge of the storms away seem to reach out to us. I hope it isn't has bad as they say it could be.....lots of rain and tornado's though. And I have been glued to the TV waiting to see here Hurricane Ike is headed, the weathermen are saying there is a chance it's following Hanna in the same path. I guess the summer wants to end in a real bang!!!

I hope anyone in the path of these storms are able to stay safe!!

Summer Comes to an End

Bye Bye Summer it's been nice!

To end the Summer season we decided to go camping at Kerr Lake. We met up with my sister and her family. I have to say we had a ball. It was really relaxing.....which was what I needed. There were only about 4 other tent campers there. We thought it would be packed but we were wrong. It was nice and quite. The only thing was the lake water was a little low this time.

We had great food, sunshine, campfire....smores, bike rides, swimming and fishing. We enjoyed watching boaters go by, talking and laughing, and visiting the nearby store for some major good milkshakes.

Anyway I want to end this post with some pictures I took at the lake.
This was the sunrise. Every morning I could sit up in my tent and watch it rise.
This was our spread....we laughed about how far we were spread out, and this was one site too.
My hubby (in gray shirt) and my brother in law fishing.
Hubby, daughter, and niece playing a game of toss the water ball in the lake.

A sailboat.....every sailboat that went by always looked as if they were falling over.

I am still in shock. It's so hard getting my daughter still to take a good picture of her....she loves making a silly face at the time I click the camera.....so I was happy to get this great pic of her.
Even on vacation there is time to get some fun exercise in......this was also our transportation to and from the bath house too....unless it was an emergency...then we drove the truck...LOL
Around the lake:

I love this picture....it's so peaceful!

There was an old graveyard that you can get to by taking a bike trail. It's the Hargrove family back in the 1800's. It's very pretty and peaceful too.
I love this picture because of the old feeling, it's the entrance of the graveyard. I love the old trees and the iron gate.
Well, that's some of the pictures I took. I hope your summer was a great one, and that Fall is even better........and cooler!

Coasters for Fall Tutorial

I was given some "Vintage" fabric squares that my 94 year old Grandmother had. I really wanted to make something for me with the fabric. I just love the vintage look this fabric has. So I decided to make some fall coasters to use.

To get started you will need some supplies. Here's what I used:

Tile squares ( I bought these at Home Depot....you can use any kind)
Fabric
Mod Podge
Foam or paint brush
Scissors
Pencil
Can of Sealer
Okay I think that's all you will need....so what do you say...let's get started!

STEP 1: (Get things ready)
Get all supplies near.

Wipe off your tile with rag and get your fabric of choice out and turn face down.

STEP 2: (Trace and Cut)
Place tile on fabric and trace around the tile.
Then once traced cut just inside the square.

Once cut out place on top of tile to see if you like the fit...you may have to cut a little more until you get it like you like it.

STEP 3 (Glue down)
Now is the fun part. Take your brush and dip into your glue and spread over tile.
(I use a good amount....and it dries clear too)

STEP 4: (Fabric square on tile)
Now take your fabric square and place on glue covered tile, and smooth out. Let dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

Step 5: (Glue some more)
Once dry brush on a layer of glue on top of fabric, making sure you get the edges too.

Let dry a hour or so and then add more layers letting them dry in between. I normally put about three good layers.

Step 6: (Sealer)

After I am done I will spray a thin layer of spray sealer on the tile. Then on back of tile I will glue little felt pads on to protect the furniture.

I hope you like the Coaster tutorial.......!

Please don't place in dishwasher....to clean just take a wet cloth and squeeze out the water and take damp cloth and wipe off.

Let the fun began! Make a few for your Friends for gifts too...
You can also use Holiday fabrics or card stock too. If you make some please let me know, I would love to see them.
